Since 1997, SMCQ Jeunesse’s music performances offer kids and adults important moments centered on music, with the goal to go far beyond the beaten track while focusing on traditionnal music for children technics, like sound effects or musical themes associated with specific characters. By commissioning new works from today’s composers and writers and by revisiting the “established” children’s repertoire, SMCQ Jeunesse proposes new vistas in order to present an array of unique shows where danse, drama and visual arts are all part of the musical game. SMCQ Jeunesse’s productions are a gage to enhancing kids’ imagination and to stimulating new tastes, interests and projects.
Such great artists as that Gilles Vigneault, Denis Gougeon, Marie Décary, Ana Sokolović, Carl Béchard, Louis-Dominique Lavigne, Lise Gionet, Claude Laroche, Jacques Piperni, Klimbo, Félix Beaulieu-Duchesneau and QUAD have thus contributed to the success of the complete art works that are SMCQ Jeunesse productions for children.
There is still time to register for the first edition of the SMCQ Jeunesse piano competition! Participate by interpreting an original work by our maestro Walter Boudreau. The prize-winner will perform the work at a FAMEQ concert in addition to receiving a $1,000 grant.

The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for over forty-five years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
