Over 6 noon hours for the entire two weeks of the festival and in collaboration with the Canadian Music Centre, MNM has cleared a space for young musicians that hail from schools all over Québec and who have joined the wave of contemporary music. With the fire and energy of youth, these students will perform works by Ligeti, Panneton, Pépin, and Hétu to mention only a few. Some will be daring enough to present their own works, composed as part of their composition courses.

Composing in the Present!

The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for almost fifty years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
