Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going? As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Semaine internationale de musique actuelle in Montréal, the new music community gathers to take stock. Over four days organized by Groupe Le Vivier, managers, performers, composers, educators, and musicologists will host lectures, panel discussions, and forums. An assessment of where we stand and what awaits us.

Composing in the Present!

The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for almost fifty years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
