The virtuoso musicians from the Quasar saxophone quartet present an all-premieres concert about motion. The program consists of three works by three Canadian composers, all using the night theme in different ways. Here, “flying saxophones” circle in the air and there, the musicians’ motions on stage trigger an electronic audio-treatment device. Through the works, as the sound relentlessly moves around in space, music becomes perceivable as an “art of movement.”

The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for over forty-five years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
