Songs is a musical journey between East and West, where the unpredictable John Cage plays the part of the ferryman. The composer’s works cross paths with Japanese traditional tunes, vocals intertwine with koto, electronics help unfold shifting soundscapes, while dance steps in to shuffle the decks and enrich the exchanges… Stéphane Guignard pushes the performers to the limits of their respective disciplines, revealing the body as a place of passage for music. The Éclats company from Bordeaux (France) presents the Montréal premiere of this “beautiful and strong” performance critically acclaimed in France.

Musical Show
The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for over forty-five years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
