On the occasion of the MNM festival, the SMCQ and the OIRCM launched its first ever music critique competition aimed at students. Take a look at 5 proposals from our budding festival critics along with that of winner Emmanuelle Piedboeuf who received a $1,000 prize jointly awarded by both organizations.

The Société de musique contemporaine du Québec is pleased to announce that its 2013 vintage brought together more than 14,000 attendees at 50 events and concerts. The SMCQ extends an enormous thanks to all those who contributed to the event’s success, particularly the artistic partners, financial partners, the media and the public. Walter Boudreau is already booking an appointment with you in 2015 for the 7th edition of the MNM festival featuring the theme “New Technologies and Surroundings”.

The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for over forty-five years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
