Opera: Le rêve de Grégoire

Le rêve de Grégoire punctuates the SMCQ’s 2014 dreamlike season! Pierre Michaud’s opera, produced by Chants Libres, brings us to a crossroads between fantasy and reality. René-Daniel Dubois’ production takes us on a musical journey that is almost Felliniesque. This performance of Le rêve de Grégoire brings together the Ensemble de la SMCQ, Quatuor Bozzini, Quasar and Sixtrum, under the direction of Walter Boudreau.

Homage Series: In May, Denis does what pleases him!

This month our partners will yet again illustrate the richness of our honorees’ repertoire, showcased by Trio Fibonacci in a new creation for I Musici de Montréal. Also, the musicians of Orchestre 21 will participate in the Homage Series, demonstrating the virtuosity of their soloists, while Arte! will give voice to a performance dedicated to Verdi by the Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières.

Composing in the Present!

The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for almost fifty years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
