Monique Jean, an acousmatic artist is particularly interested in the placement of sound in space in order to create organic ensembles in tension, between abstraction and matter, stillness and movement, body and space, the representation of sound and listening. In addition to writing acousmatic compositions in stereo (Danse de L’enfant esseulée) or multi tracks (low memory no1), she is working more with performers: Claire Marchand with low memory no2, the Quasar Ensemble for Stabile, and Lori Freedman in low memory no3. After being in residence at the Daïmon production centre, her sound installation Point d’attaches ou les infdelities rotatives was presented at La Filiature (Hull), at the Quartier Éphémère (Montréal) and at Oboro (Montréal). Her work can be heard on the disc L’adieu au s.o.s. (on Empreintes Digitales), nominated for a Prix Opus 2003. Finalists in many competitions, her compositions have been performed and broadcast at many concerts and national and international festivals.
