Let’s give a warm welcome to Toronto’s Arraymusic as it joins in our celebration of Claude Vivier! A visit from this ensemble during our tribute to the legendary Québécois composer is an absolute must: two years before Vivier’s death, Arraymusic commissioned a work that would later bear the rather enigmatic title of Et je reverrai cette ville étrange (And I will see this strange city again). But exactly which city? We’re leaving it up to these Toronto musicians to paint a picture of the mysterious universe in this work, even though it’s actually just outside the door!
Presented as part of Montréal/New Music “Série Hommage.”

The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for over forty-five years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
