As a trio, duo, or solo, the musicians of Trio Fibonacci present two different and particularly touching sides of Tremblay, surrounded in works as varied as they are poetic. With the reputation earned by this Montreal trio at the international level, there is no doubt that Tremblay is in as good a set of hands as any young Boivin, technological Palacio-Quintin, or monumental Schuman!
Gilles Tremblay, Cèdres en voiles (Thrène pour le Liban) (1989)
cello
Gilles Tremblay, Mobile (1962)
violin, and piano
Cléo Palacio-Quintin, Architectonica Nobilis (2004)
violin, cello, piano, and processing
Commission: Trio Fibonacci, with support from the CALQ
Michel Boivin, Moteurs sauvages (2008-09)
violin, cello, and piano
Robert Schumann, Trio en fa majeur, op 80 (1849)
Trio Fibonacci has championed new music since 1998, through numerous recordings and with concerts given the world over.
The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for over forty-five years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
