From solo to concerto — this is an evening to discover Gilles Tremblay’s piano, in the intrepid hands of Louise Bessette. In the babbling of a stream (Musiques de l’eau) or brilliance of an orchestra (Envoi), the instrument suddenly transforms. With a “Tremblay” programme completed by the enigmatic Solstices — a work that changes appearance with the time and season — the SMCQ’s event will be a veritable explosion of tints and hues.

With its many projects undertaken in partnership with members of the cultural milieus both here and abroad, the SMCQ has become a veritable institution for new music in North America.
The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for over forty-five years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
