The inaugural concert for the upcoming edition of the international Montreal/New Music Festival has been unveiled! The SMCQ is proud to announce that MNM 2009 will open on 18 February 2009 with a major event presented in partnership with the Montréal en Lumières festival, which is celebrating its tenth edition this year. On the programme are two stage works by Kurt Weill (The Seven Deadly Sins and Flight of the Lindbergh) for massed forces that will have its first showing in Montreal. It will be mounted by the Opéra de Lyon, with staging by François Girard, and choreography by Marie Chouinard. Slated to perform: 16 dancers, 10 singer-actors, comedian Yves Jacques, 45 musicians from the Ensemble de la SMCQ, and one Walter Boudreau (with one conducting baton)!
