In the wake of our tribute series devoted to Claude Vivier, Harmonie FAMEQ 2008 performed the composer’s Pulau Dewata as part of the Congrès 4 Arts in Trois Rivières, on Friday, November 14th. This wind ensemble draws on the talents of 65 musicians from all over Quebec, and this year their performance of Michael Oesterle’s arrangement of Vivier’s piece was enabled by a partnership with the Canadian Music Centre of Quebec. Congrès 4 Arts brings together teachers working in every artistic discipline for a biennial event organized by the Association des Éducatrices et Éducateurs Spécialisés en Arts Plastiques (AQÉSAP), the Association Théâtre Éducation du Québec (ATEQ), the Fédération des Associations de Musiciens-Éducateurs du Québec (FAMEQ), and the Regroupement Québécois de la Danse (RQD).
