We were particularly pleased to learn that the last SMCQ Jeunesse musical production, La fugue, performed by the theater company Qui va là, brought back three prizes at the June 22nd Gala des cochons d’or — first prize awarded by Carte Prem1ères for theatrical projects focussed on the next generation:

  • The cochon tapageur prize for best musical or sound design
  • The noble cochon prize for social relevance
  • Le cochon d’or prize, for the best production

Composing in the Present!

The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for over forty-five years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
