The SMCQ was pleased to find out that Le téléphone bien tempéré (Walter Boudreau and Yves Daoust) has been nominated for the Creation of the year Opus Prize, and that Récital hommage à Gilles Tremblay (Louise Bessette, piano, presented by the SMCQ) has been nominated as Concert of the year.

We were also pleased to note the nomination of the following concerts, which were part of the 2011 MNM festival: En trois mouvements (Quasar quatuor de saxophones), Mon corps jamais n’arrêtera de danser (Productions Totem Contemporain) and Urnos (La Nef).

The gala featuring the awarding of prizes takes place on Sunday, January 29th, 2012, at 3:30pm in the Salle Bourgie of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for almost fifty years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
