The 15th Opus Awards Gala will be taking place this Sunday, January 29 at 3:30 pm in the Bourgie Concert Hall of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (1339 Sherbrooke West). As a reminder, the SMCQ has two nominations: the work Le téléphone bien tempéré by Walter Boudreau and Yves Daoust is nominated in the Création de l’année category, while pianist Louise Bessette’s Homage to Gilles Tremblay — A Recital is in the running for Concert de l’année.

The SMCQ also wishes good luck to their partners whose concerts were presented as part of our MNM Festival: En trois mouvements (Quasar saxophone quartet), Mon corps jamais ne s’arrêtera de danser (Productions Totem Contemporain) and Urnos (La Nef). Best of luck also to Réjean Beaucage and his book La Société de musique contemporaine du Québec (Septentrion).

Composing in the Present!

The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for almost fifty years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
