From the musical premiere to choreographic firsts, the SMCQ is readying its entire artistic arsenal. Sokolović will have a generous space carved out for her in a concert filled with premieres of works by Québécois composers, including one accompanied by video (Chute libre). Also on the programme: a filmed version of a new choreography by Marc Boivin to Milhaud’s Création du monde (1923).

An ensemble of variable forces founded in 1966 and directed by Walter Boudreau since 1988, the Ensemble de la SMCQ has become renown for its exceptional level of cohesion and expressive power.
This concert is being recorded by Radio-Canada’s music radio network Espace musique (100.7 FM in Montreal) for national broadcast at a later date on Soirées classiques, hosted by Michel Keable, Mondays to Thursdays at 8 pm
The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for over forty-five years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
