A day of celebrations! The SMCQ marks the 30-year career of Louise Bessette, contemporary music doyenne, by giving her free rein over a one-of-a-kind triple concert. The pianist will open the event with ARTefact to perform several premieres, as well as Sokolović’s City Songs, before tackling some red hot pieces in the second half (Scelsi and Boudreau). She will close the day with pianist Peter Hill, renown for his performances of Messiaen.

Pianist Louise Bessette has carved out a distinctive place for her herself in the performance of some of the most important works of our time. Recognized for her eclectic repertoire and virtuosic performances, she has been singled out for a number of awards.
The SMCQ has been moving in step with the lively rhythms of new music for over forty-five years. With its regular concert season, its Série hommage (Homage Series), an international festival, and a young listener’s programme, the society has served both as a platform for today’s composers and as a window on creative works for everyone.
