flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano

For Eldritch Priest and John Mark Sherlock

In this work, I wanted to represent myself metaphorically framed by representations of North American myths, all equally symbolic. At the eclectic crossroads of faith, the theatre of good and evil, the technology of vast social groups and the celebrations of all these, I had to face the occasionally contradictory currents of reason and intuition.

It was under a neon light, given birth to by systems only aimed at the stupidest part of my conscience, under the beacons of consumerism and stupidity, that I realized I had been somehow transfigured. A momentary integrity reclaimed through the intercession of my imaginary? One thing is certain: I wound up staring at my life’s paradoxes, slowly and sumptuously unfolding on an internal screen.

When all was said and done, nothing had been taken away from me. It was still possible to be complete, to belong to myself.

This work was commissioned by Continuum ensemble and was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts.
