two violins, viola and two cellos

Commissioned by the CBC Toronto (English network) Paysage dépaysé (discontented landscape) was composed to commemorate the twenty-five year career of the prestigious Orford Quartet. Written for two violins, viola and two cellos, the work is dedicated to the members of the ensemble and their invited guest. It was premiered on December 9, 1990 at Rideau Hall in the presence of His Excellency the Governor General of Canada and Mrs. Ramon John Hnatyshyn.
