six improvisers

Based on an original idea by Michel F. Côté, Saptio Lumino brings together both written and improvised music using lighting as an “interface” mechanism. In other words, light is an integral part of the score. Thanks to this original idea, two creative projects of seeming disparity inhabit the same work and the same event. A pre-established scheme of colours and intensities allowed the composers to conceive of an overall musical form and progression, within which improvisers could give free reign to their creative faculties. Listeners may elect to decipher the mysterious light code that guides the work, or simply let themselves be carried away by the wandering path generated by the provocative musical universes inhabited by each of the improvisers who so generously lent their talent to this performance.
