Working mainly with samplers, Diane Labrosse approaches music with unconventional sounds and turns noises into music. Since 1985, she has been performing regularly on the scenes of avant-garde and improvised music, taking part in festivals in Europe, Japan, Australia, Canada and the USA. She has collaborated with nunerous musicians such as Michel F Côté, Martin Tétreault, Joane Hétu, Danielle P Roger, Jean Derome and Pierre Tanguay. She has composed music for theatre (Robert Lepage, Gervais Gaudreault, Steve MacCarthy), for dance (Louise Bédard, Andrew Harwood, Marc Boivin, Crystal Pite, Deborah Dunn) as well as for many ensembles (Ensemble SuperMusique, Espaces Sonores Illimités, Array Music, NOW Orchestra) and events (Harbour Symphony). She has created multimedia installations for Theatre Cryptic (Scotland), Tura-ya-moya (Denmark) and for the Canadian Music Centre (Flora International). In June 2007, she created Espèces en voie de disparition (Endangered Species) an installation/performance based on the sound of obsolete objects. Her discography is made of more than 50 recordings, most of which can be found on the Montréal independent label Ambiances Magnétiques. She was co-artistic director of Productions SuperMusique from 1980 to 2008.
