Marie-Chantal Leclair divides her time between performance, improvisation, artistic direction, and teaching. Artistic director of the Quasar Saxophone Quartet, she performs regularly in Montréal, across Canada, and abroad. With this ensemble, winner of two Opus Prizes, Marie-Chantal Leclair has participated in the premieres of over 40 works, and taken on projects covering different musical domains: electronic music, instrumental music, improvisation, and so on. Her repertoire also includes many works for solo saxophone and electronics. Quasar concerts are regularly broadcast by Radio-Canada and CBC. She has also been a member of the contemporary music ensemble Miriodor for several years. With this group, Marie-Chantal Leclair has recorded two CDs and appeared in festivals in the United States, Portugal, and Canada. She has also appeared with other groups, such as Totem Contemporain and Bradyworks. Marie-Chantal Leclair holds a master’s degree in performance from the University of Montréal, and teaches saxophone in Montréal area secondary schools.
