Emmanuelle Lizère graduated from the University of Tours with a degree in music and musicology as well as several awards. She later completed a degree in art therapy and psychopedagogy (DU d’Art en thérapie et en Psychopédagogie) at Paris Descartes University. With an interest inchildhood and early childhood, she turned her focus to developing the sound and musical environment of children as young as 3 months old, working in nurseries, daycare centres and schools where she applied a multisensory approach based primarily upon works of contemporary and international music. In 2001, aiming to share her passion for contemporary music, Emmanuelle began organizing introductory children’s workshops in this field through Le Living at Musicora. She has pursued this venture at the 2002 Agora Festival at IRCAM, the MANCA festival in Nice, Royaumont Abbey (Oise) and Le Vivier in Montréal. In 2002, she produced a CD set for children ages 1 and over entitled Tigouli, which was released by Nocturne and recognized with an ffff award from the French magazine Télérama. She has built upon this collectionthrough performances created at the Philharmonie Luxembourg that combine acoustic music with interactive electronics. Designed for children between the ages of 1 and 4, these shows have been performed at venues such as À pas contés, an international festival for young audiences held in Dijon; the Arsenal concert hall in Metz; the MANCA festival in Nice; and the Cité de la Musique in Paris. Emmanuelle has written numerous articles on youth-oriented works, notably for the Canadian magazine Circuit. Between 2011 and 2013, she designed and implemented “Méli-mélodie,” a guided visit at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, as well as “Les petits bruits de la toile” and “Le chant de verre,” two workshops introducing children to painting and sculpture through music at the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts. In 2011-2012, she completed an artist’s residency sponsored by the Conseil Général de la Seine-Saint-Denis (France) at an early childhood establishment. An editor at Éditions Bllaudot, she is the co-creator of a work entitled Sacrée gamine alongside Didier Delepeleer.
