Envolée was inspired by the elements of flight: the sensation of rising and falling, the sound of wind rushing in the ears, the sudden shifts in perspective… Envolée was written for the Montréal pianist Marc Couroux, who premiered it May 16, 1994 at Pollack Hall, Montréal.
